S Subster

Subscription management

Four blocks of the screen where the buyer turns subscription renewal off and on themselves.

The blocks sit on the "Blocks" tab, in the "Subscription portal" group, and go only onto a paywall. They make up a separate screen, the portal. It is published, bound to a domain and chosen in "App connection", in the "Subscription management portal" block; step by step: Store.

The portal shows only subscriptions paid through Stripe: App Store and Google Play purchases are not visible here.

The buyer gets in two ways:

Portal: subscription list

The buyer's subscriptions: the amount with its period, the state, the renewal date or "Cancellation scheduled for …". Use it as the first block of the portal. Settings: "List heading", "Text when there are no subscriptions", colour and size of the heading and of the text inside the plate, the plate fill. Does not: change anything or name the plan.

The line shows the amount only if the same price is chosen in another block of this screen, for example as the price of the retention offer; otherwise a dash stands instead of the amount.

Portal: cancel button

Turns renewal off: access stays until the end of the paid period, and there will be no next charge. Use it on every portal. Settings: "Cancel button text", fill, colour and size of the label. Does not: cancel with one tap or refund money. A tap first asks "Are you sure you want to cancel your subscription?".

The retention offer, if it is on the screen and fits this subscription, appears in the same question.

Portal: resume button

Removes a scheduled cancellation and is shown only for such a subscription: renewal is on again. Use it together with the cancel button: renewal cannot be turned back on from your cabinet, and a buyer who changed their mind will write to your support. Settings: "Resume button text", fill, colour and size of the label. Does not: bring back a subscription whose paid period has already ended; that is a new purchase.

Portal: retention offer (discount)

Offers a leaving buyer a switch to another price instead of cancelling. Use it when there is a cheaper plan you are willing to move a leaving buyer to. Settings: "Offer heading", "Offer text", "Button text", "Text after success", "Discounted Stripe price (swap target)" and "Show for these original prices". Does not: cancel the subscription or recalculate the paid period; the new price applies from the next charge.

"Discounted Stripe price" is the price the subscription is moved to. In "Show for these original prices" you can choose one or several prices; an empty list means "everyone".

The offer is not shown to those already on this price, to those already cancelling, and to those whose price is not in "Show for these original prices". Pick a discounted price with the same period as the current one: a monthly subscription cannot be moved to a yearly price, and the buyer only sees "Could not apply the discount". The panel does not check that the discounted price is really cheaper.
